Default B16 in EF

Well I have been looking for a 2nd gen crx until this the opportunity came that I might get a 89 Ef hatchback for FREE. Its at the shop I work in and the guy had a lot of work done to it, but couldnt pay off my boss so its my boss' car, and he needs to get rid of it so he just might give it to me.All it needs is a motor, and at first Iwas thinking of just puting in the same motor it had(d16) but why not go all out with a dohc swap. I was just wondering if you guys had links to sites that have complete engines and all the stuff for a swap, and prices for a b16 or any other dohc swaps that will fit in this car. Also what swap would you recommend for this car.

B16 is a good swap, check up http://www.jhpusa.com.

Search HT archives for "swap" in "CRX / EF Civic" board.. you should find some useful information there.

Just found out it is a std hatch because it has a 4sp tranny and looked at the old engine which was a d15, but i thought was a d16. Also has anyone bought a b16 from any sites like http://hmotorsonline.com/shop/...30002 and what your recomendations are from them

I've heard good things about HMO. Never bought from them personally.

Hmotors is one of the best places to buy. Never had a problem.

I see that the http://www.jhpusa.com b16 swap kit costs a couple hundred less. Has anyone ever got a engine jhpusa, and would anyone recommend them over hmotorsonline. Also do you have to have the hasport motor mounts for this swap.

Now I found a b16 sir2 complete swap for 1800 in my area, which will be cheaper because I dont have to pay for shipping and motor mounts. If all goes well I could get the car and engine next week. Also is there a difference in the sir1, and sir2 engine that will make this swap more difficult.

now if you mean obd-1,eg SiR,by saying SiR-2....then it i will be slightly more difficult, you need to either convert your motor to obd-0,or convert your car to obd-1.Either way takes a few things like dizzy repining and 4-wire o2 sensor and stuff like that.....

so the sir-2 comes with obd-1 and has to be obd-0 to work in an ef
