I just bought a 99 prelude but the interior light won't turn on when the door's opened. The light DOES turn on when i switch it to ON, but it won't turn on when i leave it in the middle position with the door opened. I've read lots about the "door switch" going bad, but where can i find that switch? The previous owner installed a clifford alarm on the car. could that be the problem? Also, does anyone know if i can program the alarm remote so i can unlock the door too? right now i have to disarm the alarm with the remote and then use the key to open. THanks for your help!!

 

i doubt the alarm would interfere with the light switch.. but you never know. in your case i would suggest you pop out the switch and take a look at it.
in anycase go to the dealership to get a new one. good luck

 

The switch seems to be working fine cuz the light does turn on when i switch to ON. It's just that when it's in the middle the light doesn't turn on when the door opens.

Any other ideas?

 

he is talking about the switch on the door. I had the same problem in my 4th gen and it was the door switch.

Same problem with mine on the driver's side. I'm gonna try to get it working consistently using some WD40 and ghetto ingenuity, and if not it's time to buy a new one...
