You might have an air bubble by your water pump.. Search on here for ways to get the air bubble out..
If you do have to change the water pump you might want to change the timing belt at the same time since they should be changed at the same time..

What you do to get rid of the air bubbles is open the radiator cap and let it run. That will get them out. Is there a coolent leak by the timing cover? If so it is most likely leaking out of the weap hole in the water pump.

I watched a friend do something with a plastic funnel at the radiator that got rid of them.. Dont ask me what it was but it worked..

To bleed your coolant do this, start the car when its cold with the rad cap off. Follow your upper rad hose back to the head, there will be a small valve that takes a 10 or 12mm wrench. While the car runs, open this valve, bubbles/coolant will come out, once its just coolant close it, fill up your coolant through the rad cap and your good to go....as long as that was your problem.

be VERY VERY VERY careful with that valve they are known to break. just be really gentle when you loosen and tighten it...no need to wrench on it hard...just snug.
