Default LS-Vtec setup Qs

I have a LS Motor, tranny is gone so need to take it out. Planning to do a LS-Vtec setup and also planning to convert from auto to manual tranny. Goal is to get 250+hp
Qs:
1. For the Block: a. Block Gaurd - will definitely get
b. Are stock rods reliable for ls-vtec setup if not which ones
should i use?
c. What's the best online place to buy type-r pistons and rings?
d. Should I change the pins as well?
2. For the Head: a. Can I just use GSR\B16a vavlvetrain or should I upgrade
the vavletrain because I am upgrading to high comp pistons?
Cams I will change later on, mainly my question is about
valves, retainers, springs.
b. Why would one need a thicker or thinner head gasket,
for reliability or performance - haven't been able to
understand this yet?
3. For the Tranny:a. Has this swap been done before, if yes, where can I find
info about this and is GSR tranny gonna work with my ls
block?

This is my first time using Honda-tech for Questions. I have read several articles on this site adn I know there are several Honda\Integra Gurus here so please shed some light people. Thankng you guys in anticipation!!! God bless you all with his truth and love!!!

If your goal is 250whp,stock rods wont cut it.Id go with at the very least some eagles. You can use the ITR pistons with the eagles, but you will need them machined to accept a wire lock at each end.
You should upgrade the valvesprings to aftermarket units.
Thicker and thinner headgaskets wont necessarily help reliability.A thicker headgasket will lower the compression and help prevent detonation.A thinner gasket will raise compression and would be best on all motor setup's.
Any B series transmission will fit any B series engine/block.The gsr will work with the LS block..bolts right up with no modifications. You can even use the same clutch. The 89-91 style cable transmission use smaller splines so cant be used with the newer style clutches, but still bolt up the same to any B block.

If you want 250+, I would assume you're going to need rods and pistons that would yield a CR of 13+, and some wild cams and valvetrain upgrades... at a minimum. There's other factors to consider but these are the essentials in my opinion...

First of all thank you very much guys, I am so glad to hear from experienced people for the first time. You can buy books, manuals, videos whatever but experience is priceless so thank you very much. As for cr of 13+, I have "read" that cr of more than 11.1 can not run on pump gas. Is this correct???

You can run 13:1 on pump gas if tuned right.
