first start using the function called SEARCH .... put in engine swaps, crx engine swaps, etc... there are a lot of threads that has covered this before... so pls SEARCH....
then you can get a 88-91 service shop manual aka helms manual... research may take long.. and depending on your budget you might want to shop around before buying anything...
your VTEC engine choices are: first one best to the least... and this depends on your budget and what you want to do... b18c5, b18c1, b17a1, b16b2, b16a2, b16a1, d16z6
if you want to keep your block research on mini-me conversation its basically putting vtec head on your stock block... if you are going with the b-series LS block this will be called the LS/VTEC ...

here's what you should do in this order, search a whole bunch, then go to hmotorsonline.com and buy a b16 sir1 swap, buy a helms manual, read threw it find out what you feel comfortable with replacing on you motor some thing to replace are: oil, filter, headgasket, water pump, timing belt, valve cover seal, oil pan seal, plugs, wires, alt. belt. and of course a clutch. then find a multi port harness like $50, there always on ebay(buy a cheap intake when you there too).call jim fab and get a crossmember, call hasport get the mounts, shift linkage, vtec jumper harness, and your also going to need the bracket for the t-belt side and rear mount both hasport sells cheap, go to your local acura place and get a throttle cable and clutch cable from a 90-93 teg, non abs axles for a 90-91 teg, swing by home depot and get vaccum line. now unless i forgot something, is all you need to have vtec.
find some friends, jackstands, and engine hoist, and a good socket set (with a 10, 12, 14, and 17mm)
1. jack the car up opn jackstands 2. take off the hood 3. undo the battery, starter, clutch cable (taking the two bolts out of the bracket makes this easier on you) throttle cable, fuel lines (make sure to take off the fuel cap first) the two conectors next to each strut tower, take off the vaccum lines, take the one wire off the fuse box that goes into the engine harness, unplug the fan, take out the fan and radiator, look around the engine bay, mostly everything should be undone by now and if it's not it should be easy to spot 4. get under the car drill that lil pin out of the shift linkage and unbolt the other end from the shifter, disconnect the exhaust.5 take off the wheels, take off the dust sheilds, unbolt the upper control arm, take that huge nut off the axle, wiggle the axles out(air tools make the step take like 3 mins.) put the hoist over the engine, undo the four mounts and lift the motor out.
now 1. take the stock rear mount from the back crossmember and install the hasport one, bending the lip of the crossmember down 2.unplug you old ecu and put in the b16 unit follow hasports directions on hooking it up 3. make a big dent in the drivers side of your car for the alt.(use the search for that i know there are pictures of the exact spot and if i said make a dent where the alt. would be that wouldn't help you) your motor should be ready to bolt in now, you should have the harness on it, the mounts, everything. 4. with the tranny side low and the tbelt side high it should slide it(should) 5. do everything i listed above backwards.
this swap is the most common, very easy, and you would be pleased with the power(well atleast for a little everyone wants to go faster) also, it's reliable(if you don't half *** it) and it's not going to cost you an arm and a leg either. best advice i can give is be prepared, put all your nuts and bolts in labled bags, don't half *** it, plan on taking a weekend or so to get it done, take breaks, check everything twice, get very frendly with the people at the honda acura dealers, the honda dealer by me thinks i have like 10 different cars, i tried telling them, but it's useless...someone let me know what i forgot, best of luck
