progress on my build... getting close to finished!! (I think) *quick pics*
hey fella's, just posting an update for those interested...
First time building a motor myself
updated pics 9/05/04

Benson sleeved b16a2 block
CP pistons 84mm
Crower rods
ACL bearings
ITR oil/water pumps
APR head studs
micro polished/balanced crank
b16a2 head:
supertech valve train
GSR cams
port/polish
T3/t04e turbo
Hondata s100/boost
780cc injectors... bla, bla, bla you can check out my full setup at the link in my sig
So far I think I'm doing ok...

The head has 2k miles on it from my previous setup, so I just needed to have the machine shop check for straitness and leaks, then I cleaned and painted it.

just have to finish bolting up the block accessories, mount the head and I'm there (figure out how to get it back in the car of course)...
I'm completely learning how to do things as I go, hell I still don't even know how to change brake pads, lol
Thanks for all the support guys! I would not have made it this far without HT...

what head gasket are you going to use? i would run a oem one with copper spray and you will not have any issues
I have an 84mm bored OEM head gasket from GE, and the copper spray also
chrome valve cover
it may be too much for ya...

I used 1200deg high temp paint from auto zone...
well I got 344whp @ 14 psi with blown hg on my last setup, so I'm looking for at least that. I plan on tunning no more then 16psi on pump... I'll be happy breaking 400's. maybe down the line change my turbo and tune for race gas, but for now I'm just trying to get boost again... I need my fix!!

hey we talked on cardomain a few times. that setup is looking good. I just got mine done last friday and damn i love it. I put the b18c1 with the t3/to4e in my civic. http://www.cardomain.com/id/donkiman2. nice to see someone going for higher hp using the same turbo. so when do you predict it will be done and running? I like the red paint its somthing different. gotta keep it clean. anyways keep us updated.
Looking good bro
Isnt 84 mm a bit much? What is the largest you can go?
I think I might just re-sleeve my b16a2
B16's OWN

does anyone else think 84mm is to much? I believe 85mm is the most you can do on a b16... hopefully I can rebuild a few times with just honing and replacing rings... if the walls get scratched it can be overbored a few more times. after that I would start over with another block anyway...
hey fjt, those pics are kinda old right? your motor is what got me thinking of painting mine red if you posted it over 2 months back... was gonna just do aluminum color to be clean and for leaks, but my car has a red/black theme so I said screw it...
I'm not just painting everything red, all the brackets painted black, aluminum for what ever parts are reused and were dirty... I think I'm painting the tranny aluminum, I was thinking red but that may be too much.
anyway, I know most of you are not fashion builders, but for the amount of work put into building a motor why not spending the time to make things clean and pretty?... of course function comes first, thats just how I am, I even used a 20x microscope to check how clean the ring gap edges were after I filed them.
hope this **** works

I did not know you could even go 85mm on a b16. I thought 84.5 would be the ABSOULT biggest you could go? 81mm is a stock 1.8 correct?
i think 84.5 mm is the biggest you want to go with boost and i dont think it matters if its a b18 or b16, just make shure its tuned from first start up, i trailerd my car to the tuner and he broke it in on the dyno 24 miles and we satarted boosting
cars runs strong as hell and idels good for 880 injectors.

glad you said that! I was debating having a local tuner do part thottle for break in, then go see gruvytune for full tune... but I've decided the best way to go is to idle it up to temp, run for 10-15 min on some basemap and check for leaks. then just trailer the car to Torin and have him street tune part throttle, and then rip away on the dyno. I don't want anyone else touching my car anyway...

Man, I remember talking to you early last year on CSi... I'm glad to see you got rid of the FMU and went with Hondata.
Keep us updated on your numbers.
