Default replacing main seal, what else?

hey guys well my rear main seal just went out and i am leaking oil pretty heavily. as we all know you have to drop the transmission to replace it so is there anything else i should have the shop do while it is out? do i need a new clutch and flywheel? the clutch was replaced like 6000 miles ago. oh and is it necessary not to drive my car until i get enough money to pay for it? any help is appreciated thanks

well since the tranny will be off maybe have them look at the flywheel/see if it needs resurfacing. have them look at the throwout bearing as well as the pilot bearing. if u ever plan on modifying the motor for more power now would be a good time to upgrade the clutch, otherwise if it only has 6k miles on it, just leave it. thats all i can think of, maybe someone else can think of other things.

okay i need some help again lol. i remembered today that i still have a warranty on my clutch and all that as well as labor for taking out and inspecting the transmission. it does not cover faulty seals but a friend told me a cause of my leaking main seal could be from a overtightened flywheel.. is this true and could someone help me prove to them that it should still be under warranty? thanks

i doubt overtightening the fly wheel would do that. anyway you may want to consider replacing the front seal on the tranny while your in there.
