Need help 1999 EXV6 CEL
The check engine light came on in my 1999 EXV6. I took it to Auto zone and they retrieved the codes.
P0401=The PCM has determined that there is insufficient flow in the exhaust recirculation system. (This one was in there twice)
P0420=The PCM has determined that the catalyst system efficiency for bank 1 is below threshold for the current engine operating conditions. (Bank 1 identifies the location of cylinder #1, While bank 2 identifies the cylinders on the opposite bank)
I think the first one is talking about the EGR valve but what is the second one talking about? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the 401 code is the egr ports are clogged, the 420 means you need a new cat. converter. Now both items carry a 80,000 mile extended warranty by honda,so if you have 80 or less it is free,if not it gets costly.

P0401 is more likely a clogged EGR passage than a bad EGR valve. How many miles do you have on it?

Nope, the intake manifold has to come off. The port clogs up in it.

It doesn't look like it is bolted to the IM. It looks like it bolts to the water pump. Up front. Just to remind you this is a V6 accord. go to http://www.hondaautomotivepart...V6%29
