Default Impressions: ITR intake cam install complete on 95 GSR

The car:
1995 4dr GSR
80k
iceman shorty
itr muffler (axle back)
dc sports 4-2-1

The mod:
1998 itr intake cam only

Ok. there was a lot of hoopla around this mod, and questions about this mod pop up weekly. Hopefully, this will be helpful. Kudos to RPM NYC that did the install and did a fabulous job for $150.

Is the car faster? Absolutely. the car feels stronger, maybe slightly, slightly torquier across the rev band, except before 2,000 rpm (but who hangs out there?) Vtec pulls much harder than ever before and changing gears produces a surge. Very nice. THis is subtle however, so don't expect it to pull tremendously harder, but it does pull harder and seems to build much stronger momentum. The best part is that even from a start first gear is quicker. The vtec changover point may not be optimized, but it happens so fast, it doesn't matter.

Overall, I would give this mod an A+.

Next, I will be putting on the b-pipe from the ITR. I don't expect too much, but you never know.

Thanks for your time and please post more reviews!

i dont want to get off the topic here but yes. The header did next to nothing maybe a couple hp on the top end the aem was of a good mod 6000+ but i lost low end and mid range The exhaust gave great midrange and top end as well. put the stock crush bent gsr b-pipe which is like 1.75 inch next to an aftermarket mandrel bent 2.25 pipe and you will see where the extra power comes from.

Just dropped in the intake cam only. No cam gears. No VAFC. (Yes i know there is more potential here)

Thanks. I'll follow up with the results of the b-pipe!

Not worth the 3hp. Especially since I won't be getting cam gears or a VAFC etc.

I got a great deal on the intake cam, so i did it to keep my interest in the car for a little while longer. After 7yrs of the car i think it is getting time to change. But not after a little last hurrah!
