Default Carbon Fiber Cooling plate

I've been looking at these online, not really for intention of buying, but more of understanding of them.

Are there guys here that use one of these plates? And does it really reduce water temp. due to it directing more air-flow through the radiator?

Also, what effect does it have on the amount of air that enters the intake, whether it be a stock airbox or aftermarket intake?

Just trying to further my knowledge about these things...please share some info.

Well, I've got one on the way as I'm sure you saw.

I will shoot the engine with an IR heat gun and tell you if it makes any significant difference, as well as provide before & after G-Tech runs.

I got it mainly for weight and looks.

The rad plate sure makes the air flow blow direct towards the radiator so as a result, coolant temp will be lowered as well as oil temp.

IMO, I don't think it will affect much with the intake temp but it depends what kind of intake that you are running. If you run a stock intake, intake temp might be higher.

Yeah, I saw your post. I am interested in seeing the diff. when you install yours.
It doesn't seem to make much sense for installing for weight savings, because, you are adding weight no matter what, am I correct? I don't see anything that you remove to install those. But they do look sweet.

Well the game plan in our case is removing the plastic underneath, but you are right in that it might not be feasible. Eventually after the winter and freezing tempature dangers are past, the entire car will have a "hot swap" CF body.. If we can eliminate the plastic and replace it with the CF, we will. But that remains to be seen since I'm not 100% sure how it installs in the car as far as stock components go. Rest assured I will definitly do a full pics and install review on it.

It came in today, and the product is absolutely SUPERB craftsmanship. It was an exact fit, with no modification or "tweaking" necessary.

Took about 15 minutes to install it, and it looks absolutely fantastic.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow for you guys to see, and try to get some IR gun action on it so we can see if it makes a difference.

If you haven't gotten one, but are thinking about it, I recommend the place I got it from highly. Since we aren't allowed to post "FS" stuff, just PM me and I can refer you. I'll post pics tomorrow.

The X-Brace is supposed to come in tomorrow, so I think I'm just going to take a bunch of pics of the install on that and of the plate and stuff while I'm at it.

Easier than doing seperate pics and hosting...

Either way, I'll post something up before Sunday.
