Which sway bar?
Alright I am looking to buy a rear sway bar for my 1989 Civic Dx. I just bought ITR rear LCAs and Tein HAs, I am going to run just the coilover set up at a few auto-x events to get used to them, and then I am going to add a rear sway bar, as I am told that my front bar is adiquate. I have been looking at the Progress and Suspension Techniques Sway bars, and at the moment I am leaning towards the Suspension Techniques rear bar. What I need to know is has anyone had good or bad experience with either one of these companies? Does anyone recommend a different company and why? Are the Progress and ST bars adjustable?
Thanks.
Thanks.
I don't know about Progress, but the ST bar is adjustable.
Be sure to get the bar for the car that doesn't have a sway bar as a stock item.
I don't know how you are thinking, but you listed that you have the ITR LCA's which happen to have the hole for a stock sway.
The frame rails on a car with a stock sway have threaded holes for mounting the brackets for the sway. Cars without the stock sway might have holes, but usually they don't have the threads. My car didn't even have the holes!

No you just bolt into the holes for the the stock sway bar. I have the ST bar on my '88 Civic and I have it setup like this and it works great. You will probally have to change or modify your exhaust though because most catbacks hit on the bar and rub and what not.
For the ST sway bar, one product our cars should never do without.
Oh yeah in case you didn't know the ITR and 88 Civic LCAs are the same, but I'm positive you allready knew that.

Not sure.
Does it include the backets to hold it to the frame rails?
You could find a way to utilize the holes in the LCA's.
To get it to hold to the frame rails will be a different trick and that's my concern for what you order. If you order for a car that came with a stock sway, I don't think you get the frame rail brackets that locate in a different spot that has threaded holes.

Save your cash it is a endlink on a sway bar it really isn't that critrical, I know plenty of auto-xers, and road racers that use the stock mounting holes. Save your cash.

I do not think that I have a stock rear sway bar on my 89DX. So I am not even sure if I have mounting holes, I have not had time, nor been near the car lately to go and look under the car. So that mounting kit might help me out. Does anyone know if the 1989 DX has a rear sway bar. My car is a DX too, not a STD.

The mounting kit has nothing to do with that it is the LCAs that the mounting kit is for. You just unbolt your rear tow hooks and bolt up the new sway bar mounts to the car, no problems should occur.
