Yahoo!! I just got my Calif. Cert for my 89 with B18C!!!
Well I just had to let everybody know. I just got my certification sticker from the California Smog Referee.

The car is a 89 Civic Si hatchback and the engine is a (USDM) Integra GSR B18C.
The only "modifications" were the installation of DC Sport headers and also a Skunk2 intake manifold.
Other than the fact that during the first check my timing was off (my fault, I had moved it at some time and can't really remember when), all went REAL well!
I'll be doing a "write-up" on my web site at a latter date (I've got to get back to work!!).

Rodrez;
They didn't bat an eye at the intake. I even told them it was an aftermarket one. I did have the "sticker" that Skunk2 can provide.
What was interesting was that the Referee did check on his computer to see if the DC Sport exhaust was specific to the engine. This in spite of the fact that there is a welded plate on it.

That's only because of our weather, everyone loves it so much they all want to come down here and pollute our air.

They didn't ask for the Skunk2 "sticker. I had it sitting on the floor board, but they just didn't seem to care. Go figure.
This from a Referee that in prior conversations clearly stated that he would fail a car that has an aftermarket fuel rail!!
What everybody HAS to keep in mind is that what the Referee's require and what they check varies from Referee to Referee.

It's the legal way to do a swap in CA. Anybody can swap an engine in, but this way you can pass these "visual" tests we have in CA. After you prove that it's wired up like the car it came out of (In this case, a 95 integra), you can get it smogged at any smog shop and cops (technically) can't give you crap about having a swap if they want to pop your hood.

In answer to where did I go; I went to the Referee in Woodland Hills. It's located in part of the automotive shop building of Pierce College.

Well, I just got done doing a write-up on what all happened. Keep in mind that it's not a "how-to", but something to give a little light on what can be a scary situation.
