Default Preludes love Air

I was noticing some hesitation when in VTEC like almost a fuel cut off. I knew it wasn't a lack of oil or bad gas. I cleaned the rotor and cap, which didn't help. Nothing was due for maintainance but I decided to look at my K&N air filter.

It didn't look too dirty, it had 42,000km so it wasn't over the limit but I decided to clean it. WHAT a DIFFERENCE, the car feels so much stronger! The car pulls harder and no hesitation in VTEC.

THe K&N recommendation is 50K-100K miles! Which is ridiculous. Even the Honda 48,000km recommendation is too long for a K&N, I think they get clogged earlier because of the oil. K&N filters are amazing, well worth the money!

If you've got 10k on your K&N filter, clean it. I think that is their recommendation. It will last up to 100k or more if you clean it often. I try to clean mine every 5k. It does make a difference.

It says not to clean them that often because the dirt build up will actually
help airflow.... I was questioning this too because it doesn't make much scense
to me... So you guys notice a diff after cleaning it? Because I've had mine for
about 10k miles and haven't cleaned it. I haven't had any type of problems yet...
So maybe I should clean it and see what the difference is.

I clean mine fairly often, also. I don't know what's recommended, but I know mine doesn't give me any trouble as often as I clean it.

Read more carefully... It says not to clean it too often because the larger dirt particles help filter the smaller dirt particles so optimum FILTRATION is achieved later which, generally, still allows an ample amount of air though the filter.

Yes, don't clean it too often that is why I waited because the dirt actually does help it filter. Don't wait too long either.

I would recommend 35,000km or 22,000 miles. Why you ask... because at about 40,000km I noticed the hesitation problem.

Cleaning it every 5000 miles is way too often, cleaning it when its dirty gives you the feeling of a new mod... kinda nice
