breather on intake question

breather on intake question
i put in a comptech SRI used and the breather hole rubber thing (goes from the intake to the valve cover) fell off. for now, i plugged up the hole with some black tape and left the one coming out of teh valve cover hanging. is this ok to do for about a 40 mile drive? TIA
