***HELP! right axle coming out of transmission :eep:***
Here's a story:
my cv-joint boot busted a couple weeks ago, so I replaced the whole axle...I noticed yesturday some tranny fluid on the ground and on my way to work a weird thumping noise when I drove and turned left. I got out, jacked it up and inspected and found this...
Here's a picture:

My Guess and Solution:
Its the set ring...replace and it should be ok...(hope!)

Just smack it back in with a rubber mallet or hit the end of the shaft with a hammer.. (dont smash it too hard)
make shure that little ring arount the connection to the tranny kinda locks into place , i had to do it on my accord i just kept pulling on it and hitting it in untill it locked a little bit and you could not pull it out easly..
if it doesent click in then check the ring on the end
if that all doesnt work , exchange the half-shaft with another one.

Yes it was, and that's what I was thinking of doing...
Bought some new OEM honda snap rings so i'm just gonna replace it.

Thats the thing, I was told any kinda pulling would ruin the axle...so I did what helms said and used a crowbar as a lever to pry it out safely.

pull on it too hard and your inner joint will seperate and all the bearings will fall out. then your gonna have to take the boot apart and line up all the bearings again and put it back together
if its coming out and you seated it properly teh first time, then the snap ring is probably missing. If the snap ring on the end of the axle is there, then you probably never seated her in correctly, which means you need to give it a harder smack to seat it.

I think I have this problem as well, just gonna try and smack the end of the wheel with a rubber mallet
Or do I have to take everything apart first and then give it a good smack?
If I do have to take it apart, do I have to hit it form the very end of the axle, or just the hard black piece about 3" closest to the tranny
