Default Non honda - torque converter removal

Quick briefing: Got two trucks for 50 bucks. One with bad motor, one with bad tranny. So I'm combining them to make a running truck. 2 ford Couriers motor is 2.3 lt ford

Here's my question. The working tranny is an automatic and has a torque converter and different flywheel from the running motor with a blow 5 speed. So i'm curious to is if anyone has idea how to get the flywheel/torque converter combo off. Here's a little diagram to explain how it goes....

My only thought is that something is connected in the oil pan/ crank combo

On the manual you will have a flywheel bolted to the crank, the clutch is then bolted onto the flywheel. On the AT you have a drive plate instead of a flywheel, and the TC is bolted to that. Once you get the motor and tranny separate, unbolt the torque converter from the drive plate, then remove the driveplate. Replace the flywheel on the good motor with the driveplate and bolt the TC back on.

Edit, on the TC there should be like 12 or so small bolts that hold the TC to the drive plate...at least compared to a friends 86 Chevy, but it was a 454. Should still be same basic deal. Small bolts on the outside of the TC then bigger bolts holding on the drive plate in the center of the plate.

yeah see I'm thinking that the bolts for the TC might be on the inside of the flywheel. There is an outer casing like a pictured but its not seeming to want to come out. So either its just at a bad angle or there's something behind the flywheel that needs to be unbolted and would have to have the oil pan removed to get to.

If it is like the ford ranger I just worked on,
You can access the nuts through the starter hole after you remove the starter..

so after proceeding to purchase a manual, i've read that removing the engine without tranny, you are suppose to leave the TC on the tranny. Now since I've already made the mistake of taking it off, is there any percautions into putting it back on, or is it a sure fire thing to get it in the right spot?

note- still unable to remove the TC/Flywheel from the engine that sits out of the truck.

should be good to go when you align it back up, the reason they most likely recommend leave it on when you remove the engine, is because you would not have to replace any tanny fluid.

the TQ bolts the the flexplate(of flywheel as you call it), just keep poking around and you will eventually find em.

read up on any filling instruction for the TQ before you put it back in place.

so as far as refilling, are you suppose to refill before it goes on?? I'm a little confused on how to reassemble. I have to swap flywheels along with the middle mounting plate. So would the best be to put the torque converter and AT flywheel on when the motor is out of the car, then drop her in and try not to leak fluid from the TC?? Then just refill when finished?
