Non honda related - tranny question
Quick briefing: Got two trucks for 50 bucks. One with bad motor, one with bad tranny. So I'm combining them to make a running truck. Ford 2.3 liter
Here's my question. The working tranny is an automatic and has a torque converter and different flywheel from the running motor with a blow 5 speed. So i'm curious to is if anyone has idea how to get the flywheel/torque converter combo off. Here's a little diagram to explain how it goes....
My only thought is that something is connected in the oil pan/ crank combo

Shouldnt the Torque convertor come off with the trans? And the flywheel shoukld have bots that you can remove.
I know on most V8 RWD the torque convertor and flywheel are totally sepearate.

The flexplate (flywheel) is bolted to the block and the torque convertor should slide out but is fit on kind of snug so you will have to tug on it hard. The convertor comes off first.

Correct me if im wrong but dosent the torque converter bolt to the flywheel and slide over the input shaft of the tranny????
Either case i know youll have to switch over your flywheel because of the bolt up issue.... Its very easy to do once you have it all apart.....
but thats just from my chrysler experience i could be wrong,

you can either pull the tranny out of the TC, or even better AND cleaner...
you should be able to unbolt the TC from the flex plate underneath. Just loosen bolts you can, then rotate the engine, and loosen the next ones, etc, till they are all loose. Then remove them, rotate engine, etc until all bolt are removed. Then the tranny, with TC still attached will drop straight down off the flex plate. ANd you will lose no tranny fluid

yeah I pulled the torque converter out with the motor................
wish I would have done it your way on left it one there. would have been easier to pry it off while it was in the engine bay.
So as far as removing it when the motor is out and still has the TC connected, does it just unbolt from the outside and slide off, I've been working at getting it off, unbolted all the bolts, and its still being stubborn about coming off.
