Default hole in my intake

its been about a year since i installed my aem cai...

i installed it with my friend...and i guess when i installed it...the metal sheet that you're supposed to shave off to make room for the intake piping and the filter wasn't done properly...so it had jagged edges...

i guess from the vibration from the car caused the tube to rub up against the jagged edges of the metal sheet....and made a hole...

my question is: im sure metal debris (from the intake) got into the intake manifold and ultimately into the engine...i know this will **** up any car engines...but how do i know if it did?...what are the symptoms?...the car seems to run fine...

any advice is appreciated...

actually the reason why the intake has a hole or why its rubbing against the metal part is because the rubber gromet that mounts the intake to the chassis of the car is busted, it happens on all of them , just call up AEM and they'll send u a knew one. Just duct tape the hole n ur set.

I know kinda ghetto but hey.

Don't waste your money. Its just a metal tube with a filter. The ebay CAI's are just as good as AEM's.

I even tested a brand new Ebay intake/filter against an old school Akimoto with the all-hallowed K&N filter with internal velocity stack and there was hardly a difference. ~1-2hp on a dynojet that could have been just difference in the runs. Not worth $50 or more. Go with ebay cheapie until you are as heavily modded as 2point6.

The shavings shouldn't have gotten into the motor, and if they did you would know for sure.

Don't worry.
