Default B18A Allmotor in an 89 Civic hatch?

Has anyone set this up yet? I was given this car for free. I am also getting a 91 B18A motor with a 94 intake at no charge. Engine will need rebuild but this is easy for me. I also have a Hasport mount kit coming for 1/2 price from a fellow racer. So here are the questions... what tranny? what axles? worth the swap? potentenial? etc..... Would like to 1/4 mile drag race allmotor at the track only for fun......

Man I think you love the swap I had a 88' and a 89' with this same setup. I used the HCP mounts but youll love the hasports. Light *** car with killer torque you should kick some drag racing but. I ran a 9.1 @76 mph in the 1/8 mile on small slicks. Thats not that bad at all for having no Vtec.

use a b16 cable tranny with 90-93 integra axles. expect low 15's to high 14's stock.

Thanks everyone. Finally a site where there is actual help instaed of bashing. I also have access to a great clutch builder down the street at super low prices. I will lighten my stock flywheel, and add a very agressive clutch. Any concerns with flywheel breakage or is my power still low?

Also has anyone tried port and polish and cams on this car and if so what types can be recommended?

p.s. local guy here has a b16a head on an LS bottom end allmotor CRX running 11.1 at 124mph! (Canadian record). Dynaoed at 240 WHP.

Do you have this set up in your 92 civic? If so have you run the 1/4? times? Tranny used? Did you do your own P&P? My thoughts are P&P, regrind cams (budget reasons), skunk intake, bored t/b. Any thoughts on this? Other than that will the crower cams and p&p give more output than a B16a head? .... Thanks!

Well lucky? Not really. Remember there's a lot work ahead. By the way it's a civic not a CRX. But still honda 2dr light hatch fast with the b18a once its in. But this all takes time. Plus I need a tranny axles mounts etc. Civic's here are $500 and up. B18a's excellent are also only $500. So hey saved a grand I guess.

We had that setup in my brothers 90 hatch, but he kept the ls tranny. The gears are too long for 1/4 racing, i'd go with a J1 tranny from a b16, gears are awesome. 90-93 axles are what you need and also the linkage needs to be shortened or bought from hasport. With intake header exhaust fuel reg . , and cam gears, he ran 15.1 at 91 at a 3700ft elev., and the slow ls tranny, you should run better than that with the other tranny. Good luck, bro! Oh yeah, the motor took a damn beating for 7 years until it spun a bearing. They can handle abuse WELL!

Yes, I do, plus some more! I havent ran it yet and the car is more for roadcourse/autocross than drag, but I'll be testing it out though!

Also I am using a GSR tranny w/ LSD, but I would go with a B16 or ITR tranny(I miss my old B16 tranny)

I friend of mine when I was in florida did my P&P! Its only a mild one, but Im going to send it to my buddy at R&D motorsports to get a more aggressive P&P when I pull the head back off to bump up the compression again!

Crower cams are cheap! Skunk2 IM is good too! Send your TB to maxbore.com
