Default Cam timing for minimal overlap? general guide please.

right now my cams are set for both slightly advanced. I did a dyno tune before and I had to recently do a headgasket swap. at any rate how should my cams be set to achieve minimal overlap, and yes I'm going to the dyno again.

If you want to minimize overlap, retard the intake cam and advance the exhaust cam.

Why would u want to minimize overlap? I'm in an automotive school right now and we learned all the benefits of valve overlap so i'm just wondering why you wouldn't want it.

on a N/A car the overlap helps to scavenge the exhaust gas out and mantain as clean air/fuel as possible into the cylinders

on a boosted engine, during the time both valves are opened, it caused boost to escape to the exhaust stream.....(less air in the cylinder)

thanks for the reply. I remember my teacher saying something else about on boosted cars everything pretty much changes.
