Bass, where to put box and sealed or ported
I kno a bit bout systems and wut not, but jus wanted 2 kno where most people put there box in the trunk for the most output and wut kind of box, sealed or ported that worked best for them, some pics would b nice
I would def. get a ported box made the the exact specs and have the subs/sub facing inward or toward the driver........i personally have a w7 thats about to get installed so thats what i would recommend

Location is often a compromise, depending on how important truck usage is to you. It also depends on enclosure type, size, etc. In my experience the back corners typically sound better, although with a small trunk it is much less noticable. Again, there are many variables, so your setup may vary.
As for ported vs. sealed, I prefer sealed for cleaner, lower bass and a better sound over the whole range, but it will require more power for the same volume. Ported is good for higher volume with less power and must be tuned for it to sound really good. Also, many times a ported box that sounds good with rock will not sound so great with rap (for example) and vice versa. Ported is very sensitive to box size for a particular sub, where sealed is much more forgiving.
Personally, I would go for sealed whenever possible.

So wrong...
1. There isn't anything wrong with making a ported box to exact specs
2. There isn't anything wrong with firing subs into the cabin
3. There is a HUGE problem with doing both at the same time...
And for the other statement....yes, it is very exacting to get a ported box that sounds good over variations of music genres, but I disagree with the statement that sealed boxes produce lower bass. True, if a ported box is tuned high then it kills the low bass, but a ported box tuned low sounds deeper with much more output.
Just my two cents, and your average box sounds much better fired into the trunk because it gives the wave extra distance to travel before it hits your ear, giving you an impression of deeper tones...

A ported box tuned low will have more output with the same amount of amp power, but will lose higher bass. Also, in my experience when I was an installer years ago was that you could get a good sealed box to play lower because there is more control over the woofer movement at high volume. Ported bass is also very boomy, where sealed is tight as intended in the recording. If you like boomy bass, than a good ported setup will work great for you. If you also listen to rock at high volume, I would say go for the sealed. Sealed also works great for limited space situations like in the Prelude.
If the design of both types is good, the difference will come down to your ears...
