Engine rebuild Update: Day 3/4
Welll...its DONE!!!
As some of you probably have seen, things went WAY downhill of day 3 when I picked yp my head from the machine shop. They messed it up pretty well trying to deshroud the valves (which I did NOT tell them to do) I ended up buying another B20 head from a friend for $50 and am using that...in stock form (not opening up the chambers). As for the motor, on day 3 I ended up pulling the pistons back out to check the ring end gaps (which were all good) and then I reinstalled the pistons.
Day 4 I finished assembling the block, got the oil pan on, water pump, all the sensors...prrtty much everything except the flywheel and clutch which Ill do tomorrow. I cleaned up the new head I bought, pulled all the valves and cleaned them off as well as cleaned the carbon out of the chambers. This head looks very good and teh valve seats are in great condition. I then installed my Crower valve springs and retainers in the new head. Afterwards I installed the intake manifold on the head and then prepped the distributor (new cap and rotor)
So tomorrow it all goes in the car, Im dropping the block in first then installing the head. The transmission/axles/linkage are all still in teh car so installing the blcok first will make it easier.
On a side nore, I remeasured my deck clearance and it is .020" and NOT .030" as I originally thought. So with the new head, unmilled and stock combustion chambers I will have 11.4:1 compression.

Yes with an engine hoist.
To tell you the truth..it is a pain in the ***..but only take a few minutes to do.
I did not have to take the wheels off, the axles out, or drain the tranny, or undo the linkage..so it actually saves quite a bit of time.

all i have to say, is that i give you mad props for doing it yourself. i really didn't have the time to do it while i am in school right now, so i am paying a builder to do it, and now close to 3 months since i droped the car off, i have still not gotten it back yet, problem after problem, i guess nothing ever goes as you expect it
good luck getting it back together, im looking forward to some numbers

Off topic: Hey HX_guy? I just notice your user rating! How did it go all the way down to 94%? That sucks.
