Weird temp readings
hey everyone... i got a 93. I was just wondering if it is normal for my car's temp reading go down to cold when I drive on the freeway. I know there is more air going to the radiator etc, but why does it go all the way down to cold? Thanks for the help.
well, i just changed the thermostat about a week ago and i bled the air out of the system. Is there a sensor that is acting up?
Did you put your heater on full-hot? Air likes to hang out in the heater core. You can hear air/water sloshing around when you squeeze the radiator hoses. It feels & sounds different when there's no air. You should only hear the little pin-thing rattling in the thermostat. How about the t-stat installed wrong? Gasket installed wrong & interfering??
The sender for the dashboard temperature gauge has a single wire. On my cars it's on the head, next to the upper radiator hose fitting. Don't know for sure where it's located in '93... I guess if that connection is bad, the temperature gauge would make sudden, erratic changes, or it just wouldn't work at all. I guess I thought it sounded like a more realistic, slower cooldown.
