When I shut off the egine on my 97 accord lx off after a long drive (normal operating temp), the fan stays on for about 1 or 2 mins. I looked at it and only one of the two fans were spining. Is this normal? Shouldn't both be spining? I'm guessing one of the fan is bad so the other fan has turn on to compensate for the other fan after the engine has shut off.

I also have a 95 accord v6 and the fans never turns on after I shut off the engine so i'm thinking there is something wrong with the 97 accord lx.

 

its normal, it usually happens after hard driving

 

There are 2 fans on most cars. One is for normal cooling effect, the other is only activated when A/C is being used. And yes, it is normal for the main fan to turn on after you shut the car off.

 

ok. Weird cuz i dont drive all that hard. My 95's fans never turn on after shut off.

 

They're wired different for different years. Some years they run after turning off, some years there's a timer, some years not. Some years the fan switch turns on BOTH fans, some years the 2nd fan only runs with AC. So you gotta be careful what you hear, and ALWAYS say what car, what year you're talking about.
