What motor for a CRX or hatch is the best and has most potential?
Hey guys what sup? Im thinking of buying a crx or hatch...i think like an 89-91. I want to swap a nice motor in their...what is the best? What 1/4 times are we looking at for like a GSR motor in a crx? Any info would help out a lot.
thanks
thanks
The B16A is a good motor to start with stay away from those D series
If you put a gsr b18c1 in a crx you can be looking at high 13's with i/h/e and good driver. b16a is a good motor also. I am planning on putting a zc in my rex next month and then I will be going turbo sometime next year.
since you did ask potential....
skip the B16 and go either (B18a/b) LS, (B20b/z) CRV, or (B18c) GSR the first time. you wont have to consider upgrading the block later this way. even the stock LS motor with a cable B16 tranny would be a good combo.

this question gets thrown around wayyyyyyyyyy to much, just do a search and you will find dozens of post of people giving opinions on whats best.
depends on which generation rex...the 1g's are carb'd and the 2g's have fuel injection which makes swaps much easier
however...the hf is hte lightest crx available...the 88 hf is the lightest 2g
also depends on what you are using the car for...if for drag only (no daily driving at all) get the h22a and hasport is coming out with a mount kit for that swap...this engine totally throws off the cornering abilty of the rex
if you are going to daily drive or autocross then then any b series will do fine (however the b18c has clearance issues with the hood...you may need to get a jdm zc hood or some aftermarket version...do not shimmy the motor down...you'll bottom out the oil pan easily)...i suggest a b16a since it's cheaper, has a big aftermarket, and lots of people out there have done this swap
a properly tuned and modified d series motor can be very fast, but a b series will always have more potential
