How much power would this give me?

I was trying to work out how much power I could get from some engine mods.
I have a Hyundai, not a Honda, but an engine's an engine...
I have a 2.0l SOHC engine that outputs 61hp, the cheapest mod would be to get a cheap V8, but I'm not sure that I'll do anything to my car at all.
1. Bore it from 2.0l to 2.5l - 60hp -> 75hp
2. Increase Compression - 8.5 to 11.5
Are those horsepower gains correct?
How much power would I get from increasing the compression after boring it out to get 75hp?

No one here can prolly tell you how much power you would get, we dont modify Hyundai's.
You arent going to be able to bore another half a liter out of your motor, you would end up with one gigantic odd shaped cylinder.
And the amount of power that bumping your compression actually gives you is a myth. People think it adds way more than it actually does.
I dont want to sound like an *******, but that engine was not inteded as a performance engine. You best bet would be to sell it and start out with a more capable car.

Oops, I meant to say bore it to 2.2l, not 2.5l which would make 66hp not 75hp.
Yeah, I agree, I keep alternating between knowing it's not worth upgrading, and thinking how fun it would be to do it.
Well seeing as increasing the compression doesn't make much difference, I'll forget about it. I was hoping I'd get close to 90hp which I'd be happy with in that car.
I'll have to find some information on V8 swaps, to see what I'd need to replace, etc.
The car itself is capable, it's based on the Ford Cortina, and is rear wheel drive, so there's plenty of room in the engine bay.

just to inquiry about the motor.. it's a 2.0SOHC that only pus 61hp.. I highoy dubt that.. but how much torque does it put out..now hyundai engines are used in racing series all over australia.. and europe.. u may want to look for a engine that is made by hyundai that makes more power for your car.. also 2.0SOHC Golf/vw engines can easily make more than 200hp with a slight bore and comp increase with a header and intake and computer ECU.. so not all is lose.. do some major research u may never know what u can find.. good luck
