I can't belive that this poll was missing the ultimate head....Alpine...I've owned 4 different models in 4 different cars (current one in my 91 hatch). I've never heard anything better, aside from an older nakamichi. Very reliable component....never had any trouble with any of mine. I'll never buy anything else.

Oh, and by the way alot of Honda head units are made by Alpine.

Well my Sony cd player has lasted me probably almost 3 years now w/out any troubles, but it doesn't have an aux. input so I'm awaiting my next one to get here. I was gonna go with an Alpine HU, but dollars went elsewhere, so I searched for a good HU w/the stuff I needed and came across a Blaupunkt

it was like 130 shipped, not bad, hopefully it'll last. It fits the old school look, but yet has a pre amp output to feed my boom boom, etc.

I run a cheap $99 Pioneer, it has lasted the last 3 years just fine. I'd really like a HU that has a port to hook an iPod to, that would be pimp.

i've been very happy with my kenwood one. it was one of the first rotating ones. i'm not sure if they still make this style, but its nice not to have to detatch the face. sorry i dont have a pic of it off and rotated.

Kenwood Mp3 player deck here, wouldn't have it any other way.

I drive a lot of miles, so having about 200 songs on a single disc is extremely nice.

A little OT, keebler, aren't you afraid that without a detactable face someone's going to break into your car and take your radio?

Headunits never grabbed my attention, cost money for **** that doesnt make a difference if you arent hard into systems and its just more appealing to thieves

I have a shitty blaupunkt that plays mp3's, black on black

haha not really. if they did get in, it would take them too much time to remove it. i don't believe in those lame adaptor mounting kits. with the correct tools and knowing exactly how it is attached, it still takes me about 20 minutes to remove. most thieves probably wanna be in and out in a few minutes. at least they do if i'm around to take care of them....

I had my radio stolen once, they didn't bother trying to take anything apart, they just destroyed my center console and some of my dash in their effort to take my radio. You know, its not really the fact that they took my radio that made me mad, its the fact that they destroyed my car in the process.

I've got an eclipse 5440? I'm not too big of an audiophile but it looks nice and clean and the menu structure/controls are extremely easy to navigate through while driving.

I would def say ALPINE or ECLIPSE but i recently just installed an OEM 2000 Si CD Player + 97 Accord Pocket.. No need for anything crazy in my car which is main purpose is to go fast.
