NEED FAST HELP - What is a TYC composite headlight for 94-97 Accords? ...
I thought the 94 and 95 Accords went together and 96 and 97's together, but not all four years had interchangeable headlights?
This is a moot question now. I saw some headlights for sale on ebay. The seller used OEM wording in a clever manner to make the buyer think he was selling used Honda original factory OEM lights. So, I also used cleverly worded questions to trap him into confessing they were not OEM at all. He apologized and said they were not at all OEM. Perhaps they are ok anyway, but that is another issue. One must be honest from the start and give people the choice to buy based on truthfulness. Here is a copy of the Ebay add, and the email that was exchanged:
HONDA ACCORD OEM COMPOSITE HEADLIGHT w/BRACKET RH 94-97
Dear twiga-auto-lights:
I have 94 accord and the right [front headlight] light got smashed. My light says Honda inside. I do not see the word Honda on your light anywhere. I have a few questions: 1. Is this a used or new light? If used, what year car it came off? 2. Is your ad claiming this light for sale is the original factory installed light by Honda?
Dear diyer, sorry that was a typo this headlight is made by TYC and is used, thanx .
I asked the question here because the light looked better than some of the other newer lights on Ebay. But I trust the experts here, and I wasn't sure if it was what I needed, fit issues, etc., etc. The light had no side marker which I would have had to buy separately, and I didn;t know if an OEM honda side marker light would fit this product, etc., etc. In the end, all I was saving was $50 under the Honda price, and if even one small thing went wrong, then it would have not been worth it. You know how it can drag out and running back and forth and trying get a refund from an ebay'er is a quick road to Ebay hell.
Also, this guys add read in loud colored words over and over repeatedly that if you buy it you are stuck with it. It just smacked of a scam. And here is the real clincher, I clicked on the guys web site and all I saw was one automotive light after another and guess what WORD was used in each and every single add > O E M <. That's right, so it was a scam, because how could he not know all those lights were not OEM lights - how could there be so many typos? Ebay is a buyers nightmare. I hope they get run out of business or sued by the federal government for scamming trusting people with all the clever wording. Seem to me all that Ebay ever accomplished was to drive the prices up for things that are junk and drive prices down for things that are worth more.
I hate Ebay, because too many of the sellers on Ebay are knowingly dishonest and hide behind clever wording, and hold back vital information that if divulged, no one would buy there product. .
Back to searching for a used OEM light.
