zc on my 95 civic
i have a 95 civic ex with the greddy kit. i want to swap in a zc motor. a 1.6 dohc. since i don't need vtec and a sohc. the best choice is the zc. since the turbo is a bolt right on i shouldn't have to buy a new turbo kit. most of all, i'm planning to rebuilt the 1.6 dohc. what i don't know is will it be a easy fix. what will i need. are there any aftermarket part for zc. or maybe i should just stick with my d16z6?
stick with the z6 or even JDM d15b or sohc ZC vtec, much better and stronger motors - with more parts and better design. I wouldn't bother with ZC DOHC especially if you're getting the non-obd/EF version and trying to get it into a EG/OBDI chassis, its simply a waste of time, money and will cause more headaches then power. OBDI EG versions do exist but its expensive and rare, again worthless.
again parts are not very common and design is from early 80's, doesn't aid the reliablity. (common issues with used ZC - head gasket failure (composite), high fuel consumption, low compression (due to age and abuse)) no cams, no intake manifolds or metal head gaskets which are affordable.
