its inventer, as in invent
made by autodesk, same as autocad
i use it at work, better than prototyping, and cheaper.

also you should delete the unused sketches on the nuts in the first picture.
and then teach me how to use drive constraints

what a SOB it was to constrain! can't wait to get my flange and colletor in to see if it all fits together without having to modify any ells.

i heard the down side to inventor is that you cant put threads in holes, threads can only be rendered, is that true?

??? I have no problems with threads.. holes or shafts.. a couple clicks and every thread known to man is easily made.. it's as easy as this ----&gt;

you might have it confused with mechanical desktop where threads are a PITA..

 

hmm. well my teacher was demonstrating how to use inventor and he said he cant put real threads its only rendered picture of a thread. haha maybe its an older version of inventor?

Hrmmm.... now that i think of it i think your right.. it's not really a solid thread that you can draw on.. but it's not a big deal?

thats no cartoon bud,

thats a solid scale model of engine parts drawn in 3D. He is showing what can be done with 3D model software. You can draw something to perfect scale and see exactly what it will look like and do before you even buy a single peice of metal. It's extreemly usefull and very fast, it's not about drawing cartoons.. hehe..

if your brave just ask some computer geek for a cracked copy and learn with the tutorials.. but i think you'd struggle unless you had someone looking over your shoulder. At my college the course is called "CAD-3D Solids", they will teach you how to put those 3D designs into 2D sketches "blueprints" i guess you could say aswell. I can't image going into the field i'm going into not knowing how to use this type of software..

you can make real threads, it takes some time but it can be done.
