Default skunk2 intake manifold intalled in eg with h22 swap reveiw

well I finally got my intake manifold after waiting, what 2 years? anyways my disapointment with skunk2 was once again, investigating the quality of my intake manifold, I find my good friend JB weld inside and out, way to go skunk2, its almost like they didn't want it to fit in civics, because they make the IACV at the back, where it WILL hit the proportioning valve (but the h22 is on the front, go figure), all it looks like to me is a beefed up plenum on the b16/itr manifold, with the h22 flange, but I guess I will truly see what will happen, I think on my setup there should be a jump in power because I was still using the secandaries only the dyno can tell.

heres some pics

you gotta lower the proportioning valve, poor design in my opinion

well they DID design it for a prelude and even sent along a slip of paper saying it probably wont fit in swapped cars.

i tried mine out in my hatch about a week and a half ago and decided it wasnt worth the effort to get it in since i had a euro-r and str 70mm tb ready to go instead., and it all fit with a lot of room to spare. i may do the skunk2 later once i turbocharge though.

Skunk2 took two yrs to make this. Very disappointing. Only Dyno will tell... Install is a PITA with Hasport mounts. What about mount kits with HCP where the motor is closer to the firewall?

what about shifting...did you try to see if it kicks back and hits the prop-valve?

you have to move the proportioning valve and the lines. If anything, its going to hit the booster and the firewall. Also, if using a Hondata gasket, its even closer and you need to use longer studs

Someone else on here already installed the Skunk2 H22 manifold into their EG Civic with HCP mounts.... fitment and gripes are just about exactly the same. Funny thing is, most people who have gotten the Skunk2 manifolds are disapointed with initial "butt-dyno" results as they feel the car being slower than before, and one guy said he lost power on the dyno but still needed to tune his Hondata. Realisitcally, I see this manifold doing well with either a high compression H22 motor with some good cams, or with a boosted H22 motor. At least with an aftermarket mount kit, the motor will not move and your IACV will (should) not hit the firewall.

Can anyone give us driving experience as far as hard driving?

Are you guys who have swapped it in having any problems hitting firewall or lines when driving.

I think it should fit the EK, but the proportioning valve will have to be lowered to fit, I still don't understand why they put the IACV on the back.......

Probably trying to go for that Euro R look, like shown here

If you look at the Skunk2 manifold and the Euro R manifolds side by side, the Euro R manifold is substantially shorter (shorter runners) and it not curved up as much, thus making it look more like a real Integra Type R intake manifold. They copied the same idea with putting the IACV in the back of the manifold also. Too bad the Euro R manifolds don't bolt right onto a reg H22 head

they put the iacv on teh back so they could make a much larger throttle body opening. on teh stock manifold the iacv port goes across the top of the manifold to the front making it hard to overbore to match a 65 or 70mm throttle body.

How hard is it to relocate the proportioning valve?
