MY pressure plate is dead i think??!?
last week i was comming home from work when i experienced my car make a weird soft boom or taping like noise.....When the car is at a full stop and its in 1st when i let go of the clutch slowly after i let go and the car starts moving it makes this boom like nose IT IS NOT LIKE BOOOOM!!! its a soft noise(like 2 peices of metal hitting eachother)..idk.. then goes away its doing THAT EVERYTIME ITS IN 1ST!! ITS pissin me off...i took it to my mechanic and he told me its my pressure plate.....IDK wat do u guys think..THANX A MILLION EVERY1!!!!!
without experiencing your actual problem its hard to tell. but if you have a new motor in it check the motor mounts.
the long bolt that slides through the mount, when not tightened completely, will give a gentle boom or pop when the motor shifts forward when starting out.
but pretty much, as long as there is no constant noise and the clutch isn't slipping, then the pressure plate is still good. alot of times mechanics just put down the first idea they have because they can't just tell you "idk" and lose a sale
