I'm having a problem with my 97 Honda Civic HX. I Recentley purchased the car and the lady told me that it had a transmission problem. I still purchased the car because it was pretty cheap (I think?) I got the car for only 1,300$ with an interior with a wonderful condition. The Engine has 195,000 Miles and an Automatic Tranny and it Runs. But my problem is when I accelerate the car Jerks (if I slightley press it) and when I press it a little more the car Jerks and stops if I press it a LITTLE MORE the car Jerks and Peels out and Jerks again and then goes on. I'm not sure but I think the car only Shifts to 2nd or 3rd gear. And I have that Same Jerking problem the whole time it doesnt go away. My question is what could be the problem with the car? And anyone know what I can do to fix it? Thanks A lot.

get a new tranny lol.
the torque convertor on that auto tranny is gone, omg auto civic trannys are so cheap, go to any junkyard or try on the classifieds right here on honda-tech, you will not spend anymore than $150 on a good used one.

i dont think its the torque convertor...if it was...your car wouldnt move....it wouldnt have any torque...
haha
when you say jerk..does it jerk like....the WHOLE car shakes...like its fast...or does it just kinda pulse (Spelling?) like up down...but not a hard jerk..just like its switching between a higher and a lower gear?
