Default symptoms of scratched cylinders

such as smoke, etc? is there any way to tell if you have a scratch in your cylinder other than taking off the head?

if you have access to a leak down tester .you can test it and if its bad you'll notice a leak and if some one who knows how to use it can ussually tell if its a crank case leak or a cylinder head leak.....

No, not most of the time. Symptoms of scarred cylinder walls are smoke under WOT, and bad leakdown #'s.
