Default B18C1, very slow?

ok, the car was overheating so i didnt have a chance to really feel it, got the new hoses, etc and thermostat, everything is good so far...
now, im driving it hard , and the car really lags till aout 6500rpm and i dont know why, really bad..........i continued driving it tho for about 2hrs tonight, and as time went on it did get faster, now im just sceptical, what could this be?

thanks !

Did you wire the IAB right? B18c1 intake manifold has a secondary butterfly. You may have to switch the wirings on it.

yes the IAB is hookedup, and i can feel the vtec kicking in, around 4k and then the 2ndaries right before 6k

now what else can be wrong? i raced my friends stock `95 GS-R and lost by 1 1/2 cars going into 4th gear!

does the engine need a break in period? (btw: the engine was compression tested before being bought)

Plz give me some ideas guys, i cant imagine wasting 3k+ for an engine like this!!

mine was like that too...for some strange reason, I bought a FPR and it totally cured everything after I turned the fuel pressure up to 50-55psi...get a B&M, they're cheap and effective.

One thing to check is have your boy or mom or whatever step on the gas while u see if the throttle butterfly opens all the way..

carbon deposits on pistons, oil buildup from pcv inside intake mani, valves unadjusted (?)..

I'm also assuming this is a pre-96 and the only o2 sensor is not hooked up.. This wouldn't cause this severe a problem, but definitely get that handled before pulling apart the motor.. u didn't waste your money > hybrid love

Hello!!!! O2 Sensors measure the burn and decide weather or not to add more fuel or less!!!! Well the ECU decides after reading what the O2 says. I had a really slow as Taurus and replaced the O2....damn that bitch came to life....the ECU couldn't read the O2 so I was running rich as hell......oh and the FORD is gone....got 2 hondas.
