Mugen ecu with CTR intake cam
I have this setup on my '98 ITR: C.R. 11.1:1 with JDM pistons, Mugen N1 ecu, Mugen Airbox, Mugen 4-1 header, test pipe, Spilfire plugs & wires, Mugen front & rear 26 mm antiroll bars, Distributor at 19°, Fuel 99 octane
I 'm thinking to take CTR intake cam (cheap) that's known the only one aftermarket cam to work with Mugen ecu.
But is this mod worth like with stock ecu where people says CTR intake cam giving out 10 Whp alone ?
Look at this boy ITR
//members.xoom.it/_XOOM/alex_woods/us/integratyperus.htm) with complete Mugen engine package (i, h, e, valve springs, ecu ecc.) with head work,12.4 c.r., 64 mm. throttle body, distributor at 18°, fuel 99 oct., stock internals has 267 crank hp at 9000 rpm.
I ask if the extra 40 Hp gain over the usually with Mugen bolts (kingmotorsport ITR gave about 225 crank hp) cames all from head work and compression?
Someone knows free length and ID of Mugen springs on lowdown kit.
Regards.

Do you know Alex Woods? He used to post alot on SHO and I told him about HT but I havent seen him around lately
Heres your link fixed http://members.xoom.it/alex_woods/us/integratyperus.htm http://members.xoom.it/alex_woods/

Alex is from Italy like me, but i don't know him personally because he lives far away, but often we post.
Here he's one that have the most knowledge about Honda tuning.
BTW Mike
,
you are also an expert: what do you say about my questions?

Im not exactly sure what Alex has done, I did email him and he said he would respond to this post.
Most of the Mugen bolt ons by themselves wont give you a huge gain in hp but they work well when the parts are used in conjunction with the rest of Mugens parts. From his page i believe he had some headwork done and a Overbored TB.
Besides all that, CTR Cam with mugen ecu and their header intake etc will make some nice power.

CTR intake cams can only benefit you about 3hp. There's no where to see a 10hp over ITR cam.
Mugen's setup cannot make that much power. 267hp @ crank = 213whp ? This sound a bit overkill. I don't think they can do it without ccams for a street setting. Possibilty will be ,if the engine is race build cuz the stock injectors has already maxed out with this hp out put.

Hi Guys,
I think that EU-ITR engine and US-ITR engine are basically different. In Europe we have Hi-Octane gasoline and you see that stock compression ratio is too hight : 11:1 than 10.4:1 (I think so...).
The EU-ITR and JDM-ITR intake and exhaust cams are the same of CTR, instead the US power measurements standard are differents from EU and JDM. US-ITR has 195PS SAE, EU-ITR has 190PS DIN but us 190PS DIN are most of the 195PS SAE.
My ITR has 267PS DIN at the cranck in Racing setup, the engine has been measured at the dyno (only the engine and not all car!). At the wheel the car have about 230PS DIN and it is not bad.
You thake present that my car is official Mugen ITR, full tuned by Mugen philosophy. On my web site I don't say some little work secrets... Fundamental

Good Luck!
