Default Intake box in fender?

Ok same situation as the guy in the link here. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=933130
I used the search button....it does work!

So my question is...What is that box inside the fender do?
Its freakin huge and seems to restrict the airflow to the intake.
I want to take it out but in that link someone said something about a vacuum hose?
What do i need to do with that?

When you say cap it off, you mean just plug up the end of that hose that goes to the resonator?
I dont get why all that crap is there its totally a waste of money.

If it's the same as a Civic it's just to quiet everything down - it's a resonator.

It is there to muffle the engine noise from coming out your intake. It's ONLY function is to make your car quieter. (it's not that much louder with it out). Trace the vacuum line that goes to it, back to the vacuum tank and check valve, remove all the lines/valves and tank. Then cap off the vacuum port at the intake mani.
