Default painting car...which kind of paint?

I searched around but couldn't find anything useful and I keep hearing mixed things on what kind of paint to go with. Right now i'm looking at either Napa's Martin Senour paint or Omni which I assume by the price is the lower end of paint. Does either one have any advantages over the other or is it the quality pretty much defined by the prep work?

also, the PPG is about $100 more but is it worth it to spend the extra for a little higher end? it's $192 for a gallon of PPG and around $80-$100 for Napa or Omni paint.

omni is the cheap end of PPG you are correct..........

most but not all there omni selection is single stage paint which is basically base and clear and paint mixed together but you can also add another layer of clear or take the double stage way also....... if your planning on doing for a short term like 3-5 years or so it isnt that bad cause after that i dont think it willl last very long for shine (get what you pay for)

i say wait until you got the money and go with there DBC double stage paints........... its more of a OEM paint and will have alot more shine in the long term run...........

I know your sick of looking at the silver part of your car chad, but if you're going to paint it then use high quality stuff. if you go cheap, you'll regret it

yeah, i was thinking that...i called about the omni and it does come in base/clear application which is the way i'm going. i'm just thinking that the body has 112,000 miles on it and has rust on both qtrs so eventually, it will come back and i don't wanna make the paint look awesome only to have it all chewed up by dirt roads and daily driving. not to mention, if the rust ever comes back (which it prolly will) i'd have to repaint it.

it's just that my family and some friends always sway me towards cheap stuff even if i'm leaning towards higher end stuff. and since it's family that's painting my car, it's hard to go against "their 20 year's of experience." anybody actually have any of these paints on their car?

OT: matt, i swear you're following me around on h-t..are you a honda tech stalker?

lol...i was bored earlier so i was searching ppl's usernames
just as long as u do a good prep job, a cheaper paint would be fine...dont get the absolute cheapest, but i dont think ppg is neccesary unless you want a show quality paint job(which you dont)

Dupont Chromabase, I deal with it everday, never have a problem, and im using it on my own car no question about it!!!!!!

PPG, RM Diamont, Sherman Williams, are also good.

If u want something cheaper thats not to bad either, look into nasons. Its a cheaper paint made my dupont. and if done right u will be happy with it. Just wont last as long as a higher end paint. but if u dont take care of ur paint job right. nothing will last

well shermin williams makes the paint that napa sells so I guess that's good. i'll prolly just go with the cheaper stuff...i figured less than 250 for everything including materials and since i'm getting it painted for free it'll be a very low cost paint job.
