No hoses going to engine from short ram..???
I have a 94 ex coupe with a frankenstein Si head on a gs-r block....is it correct that the short ram intake (aem i think with heat tape around it) has no hoses at all coming from it to the engine...its just the intake going right to the manifold...but no hoses..how come my older car with a cold air intake had a hose or two and not this one?

It sounds like you aren't very sure if had 1 hose or 2. But AFAIK, a stock intake tube has a breather hose from the valve cover to the intake tube. Some cars have the metal tubing that also has a coolant line running alongside the breather tube. That coolant tube goes from the water pipe/thermohousing to I think the TB or the IM somewhere.

hmm im not too sure about what u said.im not too much a gear head...but just wondering if its normal for my short ram not to have any hoses or anything going to anywhere as far as i know

Does your valve cover have a nipple on it that used to be connected via rubber hose to the stock intake? if you short ram doesn't have a connection on it to go to the valve cover, then you can just valve cover breather filter. It looks like a KN air filter but it is, about 1-2 inches in diameter and the neck is big enoug hto go over your valve cover breather nipple.
What kind of motor do you have?

i said up top that I have a 94 EX coupe with a frankenstein '99 Si head on a GS-R block...and yes on the valve cover there is a rubber-covered hole thing where there would be a hose going to the intake just like my other civic's cold air intake...and i bought the car like this so i didnt do the intake myself...but like i mentioned in another post, when the car idles it makes small barely noticeable sputtering noises in the engine and exhaust a little...nothing serious sounding..and the idle stays between 900 and 1200 so i think thats normal...maybe this has sumthing to do with the intake? or no

I dont think your idle problem would have anything to do with the valve cover problem. Normally the valve cover is routed right into the intake. This allows the gasses built up in the cylinder head to exit out of the head into the intake, and get burned up in the combustion chamber.
Anyways, if you want piece of mind, you can go to your local Autozone or NAPA and buy a valve cover breather filter. If you've never seen one, It looks like the air filter that goes on the end of your short ram intake, but it is very small. It's small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, and the opening is big enough to go onto your valve cover nipple.
EDIT: I just re-read your post. Are you saying that the valve cover nipple has a rubber cap on it?

Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing:
In this pic of my valve cover, that silver nipple on the bottom of the pic, right next to the oil fill hole. You can stick a valve cover filter on there, and make sure it's secured with a small hose clamp. I dont think you'd wanna put a ruber cap on it, beause that traps the gasses in the head, and I dont think you wanna do that. Also if you leave it completly open like in my pic, you might have a little oil spewage in your engine bay. A little bit of oil or oil mist will be coming out of that nipple and a valve cover filter will help soak up some of that oil.

No oil should come out of the breather on a properly operating motor.
And whatever you do dont cap it off.

lol.. every thinks it's a breather, it's NOT it's the AIR INLET for the pcv system. the breather (out part) goes straight to the intake manifold via the pcv valve.
if you got oil coming out of that hole you are getting blowby (bad piston rings).
