I have a set of 5 spoke gsr rims and i plan to paint them black or gunmetal in the near future. is there a type of spray (brand or texture) that will stick well?

Any advice for preparation? Can you spray on a clear afterwards, would that help the paint stay in good condition afterwards? I'd like to avoid spending the money for a powdercoat.

 

when i painted my crx si rims.. i sanded out all the imperfections and all the top paint.. and just sprayed them with a good ole rattle can lol... it didnt look that bad.. but it did go bad because i had them flat black so i didnt want a clear coat

 

anyone with experience spraying a clear coat over the painted rims?
