how do i check trouble codes
i just changed the timing belt in a 1992 1.8 liter, and now the thing will not run correctly. i checked the timing, reset the computer, and rechecked the timing. we then did a tune up cause it needed it really bad. is there a way to check what is stored in the computer for trouble codes? it runs at idle like there is nothing wrong, but when you need the power going up a hill at highway speed it actually slows down. any help will be more than what i have now.
how many miles on the motor?
if you cleared the computer theres going to be nothing stored in there unless you have had a cel after the reset.
how is the compression on the motor?

there are about 135,000 miles on the motor. to reset the computer i disconected the battery for 20 minutes. i never checked the compresion. it was a great running car before i worked on it. the timing belt had never been changed before. mind you the plugs that were in there had a gap of somewhere near 75 thousandths. i was amazed that it was still running.
