ls-vtec budget setup
hi, im interested in a ls-vtec, since i haev a spare ls bottom end and my b16 keeps getting worked in short spurts by tegs with stock Ls engines.
i plan to use US spec ITR pistons and eagle or crower econo billet rods.
thats all i plan to do to the bottom end other than the required new bearings and gaskets etc...
is that all thats really needed, i plan to only rev the sucker to a few hundred more rpms than a stock ls revs. im not sure i think a stock ls revs to 7200
I MIGHT rev to 7500 but probably ill keep it at 7200
what kind of power can be expected?
is it required to rev high to make any power?
any other parts i should include?
thx

why not use P30 pistons on the LS rods if you dont plan to rev high?
If you are looking for a budget LS build, keep the bottom end together with OEM parts.
I wouldnt recommend CTR pistons though, very high compression.

From personal experience, u won't have a problem reving up to 8000 using stock ls rod,rod bolts, and type oversized pistons. My ls/vtec was all stock only thing i did was machine the cylinder walls at like .027 that was it. everything was str8 bolt on. i ran this setup w/o a problem for 2 years. and this was a daily driven car.
