Whenever I'm done driven my car for awhile, I'll park it in the garage and like ten seconds later, I'll here a "ping!" noise from the engine bay. I have a DC Chasiss and a B20Z. Its kinda weird, what do you think it is?

 

water droplet from A/C landing on a heatshield? or is it reeeal loud?

 

I always thought it was the oil dripping back into the pan.

 

I hear that all the time from my car after turning it off.Ive heard it on many cars.I have no clue what it is but im pretty sure its normal.

 

actually yeah, my A/C is on pretty much 24/7 because I love nice cool air. Being in Socal and and all. thanks for the help guys.

 

It's probably just the sound of the metal contracting as it cools... all cars do it after they've been driven.

 

its your header contracting as it cools. mines pings like 20 times after shutting engine off.

i think this may be your answer. my parents had a ford explorer that did the same thing. if not the header, then some other hot metal object...

 

ya ur right..after long time driving u can hear *ping* *ping* sound from cooling down..u can easier hear on trucks or SUV..
