Want a H22 swap but short on cash ..
I have a 94 Accord with a F22. I have DC Sport headers, Greddy exhaust, Strut bars, and intake. I want some more speed without spending a TON of money. I'm not too cheap but I would like to spend my money on mods that are WORTH it. Does anyone have any suggestions that would help me out?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Theres not much u can do when your short on cash, and the worst thing to do is to buy cheap parts just because your inpatient, I'd say go with nitrous, or instead of swaping in the h22a save up alittle and get a turbo kit and run it with low psi

That's only cheap for a little while. You'll get addicted to it and then be buying bottle refills weekly at 20-40 bucks a fill. Plus there is always the potential you'll blow up your engine

Best bang short term=nitrous.
Best bang long term=turbo (you will sacrifice your header).
Best free mod 100% reliability=remove spare tire/ac/ps/rear seats/sunroof/lighter wheels/atkins diet.
I say turbo your f22. with something like stock 8:1 compression, iron sleeves.... Just Do It.

yup........in a perfect world, turboing probably gives the best power/$ ratio, but of course this isnt a perfect world......turboing an NA motor will always create problems along the way, and you will run into extra costs and lots of down time......cheapest thing to do would be sell the car and buy an srt-4 (fastest car under 20k)

I know you didn't just recommend buying a neon
Oh...thank God...you said cheapest thing to do, not best thing to do.
Plus that too is only short term, because its still a neon, and as we all know they aren't worth **** after 30k miles.

I'm reading on this site, http://www.hmotorsonline.com, and they say that an h22 motor averages only 35k miles, well all motors actually, then they die. Is this really true, that I have 100k+ on my stock right now, that aftermarket engines only get a third that?
Thx

lol, no the motors will last just as long as a USDM motors. Why they do that is over in Japan because of the smog and environment issues they make you replace your motor when you hit 30-45k because of the over population in such a small area. Not because of that's all the motor is good for.

WRONG.
Has nothing to do with smog. And has even less to do with motor replacement. Has to do with economic interests of a country whose major resource is automobiles. Taxation on older models makes purchase of new models more attractive to the consumer. Smog is MORE of a US interest than anywhere else.
