Default Resonator. How much can they actually tone down your exhaust?

Ive got a 2.25-2.5" catback that came with the car. I say 2.25-2.5" because it changes by the section lol. I bought the car and the muffler was cracked so I bought a Cherry Bomb Turbo muffler and slpper her on and they go on in the stock location.

Last week I got around to driving my car and felt the need to get on her, at 3000-5000 she just rasps like a mother ******. Just sounds bad even to me and its my car lol, so Im wonderring, how much can a resonator actually tone down an exhaust and cut the rasp

Bigger the better? If you guys think it will help Im gonna buy one tomorrow and try it out.

I also have a gutted cat

A resonator should take care of that raspy sound u have. I know a few ppl witha 2.25 inch cat back exhausts (with operational cats), but no resonator, and their **** sounds raspy. I have the greddy SP which is somewhere around 2.25 as well, but i have a hollowed out cat, it comes with a resoantor, and i have no raspy sound at all. About overall sound suppression, if i unbolt my muffler (mid section resonator still in place), it gets real loud real quick. I think the resonator helps out the tone, and not so much the db level. When i put my real cat back on, the sound actually is a lil bit deeper, but not much db level change, if any.

heres my experience... i had a 2.25" catback, no resonator, stock cat... sounded good.

i put on a header... got a nasty resonance around 3000 and general garbage sound above that

put on a resonator and everythings back to good.

At first I had the Tanabe Medallion (APEX'i N1 style) muffler w/ oem cat and 2.25" piping cat back. It was loud as **** at all rpms. Almost got pulled over so I added a Magnaflow resonator (forgot length...I'll measure tomorrow.) Anyway, you can now only tell at higher RPMs....

<--- 2.25 inch pipe with a generic n1 style ebay muffler, with a stock resonator...the sound is amazing, insanely deep, and no rasp at all. definitely get a resonator.

3-4 more horses, or a good sound, CHOOSE ONE.

After having one put on my latest exhaust system I'll never run without one.. it smooths out the sound and really takes away unnecessary loudness.
