Default What do I need to put a ZC motor in my CRX?

I have a 89 CRX DX, which is automatic. I want to keep it automatic, and I'm wondering what all I need to swap the ZC motor in. As I understand, my auto tranny and all motor mounts will bolt up, right?

I know I'll need to do the MPFI swap, and I'll need a new ECU, but which one? I've heard I can use either an Integra or a Civic one. Is that all I need?

Also, I'm not very mechanically inclined and this will be my first swap, are there any tips you guys can give that can help me out? I'm a little nervous I'll screw something up, but I'm still gonna try

Also, hmotorsonline seems to have the best deal on a ZC for $525 + shipping. Has anybody dealt with them before? Pretty good service?

Thanks for the replies.

I orderd the DOHC ZC from them last year, and I was very satisfied. I have since sold that car, and I just ordered a D15B VTEC w/ Tranny from them today, if that helps to show that they are good.

Anyways, yes your mounts will work, yes you need the MPFI conversion if you are not MPFI already. The ECU should be a Teg ECU from 88-89, and obviously it need sto be an auto ECU, unless you can get the ZC ECU (auto). It should be a pretty straightforward swap. GL.

88-89 integra axles will not work with any ZC swap - if you are using a ZC transmission, the axles are 90-93 Integra with a ZC intermediate shaft - 88-89 Integra axles are too short - if you are not using ZC transmission, you need stock axles for your model of car (DX & Si are the same)

Thanks for the replies so far.

Should I replace anything while the engine is out of the car (like timing belt, gaskets, etc.)?

Also, about the ECU, will I have to do any re-wiring? I use my DX harness, right?

Can anybody recommend any good sites with detailed swap info?

Thanks.

here is one from google search.

http://thenew.gamesbbs.com/~dmoore/zc.htm

search "zc swap"

when you get the motor change everything while its out of the car. timing belt, tensioner, waterpump, any other belts, any other gaskets...the more you do when the motor is out the less time you'll spend breaking your knuckles under your car.
