Default Oil burning problems... howcome it never goes away

My gsr when starting up has white smoke puffying out of the exhaust.. but after the car warms up everything seems ok.. no more smoke. The car is not driven hard .. but rather daily driven to work and back.. the car burns roughly 1/2 to 3/4 quart per week of oil... why is this happening.. i am really beginning to get frustrated as i can not determine the cause of this.

info:

-Good compression all the way across
-Leak down test done everything was good
-recently replaced valves (thought it was the valves that caused the oil burning)
-car only has 74xxx miles
-black stuff gets all over the back bumper from the exhaust..

can anyone help me out with my situation.. hopefully help me pinpoint the problem before i just swap in a complete motor.

ps: could it be the piston rings? i thougt i wasnt becasue the car was showing good compression and leak down #s

?????

If you are using your basica 5/30 oil for your integra if i think it is right.
Use the next lvl of oil. 10/30. Just the lvl of thickness of oil that burns quicker or not. Usually you use 10/30 oil when you get to the 120k mileage on your car. Or that was what i was told. GL on your car. =X if i did help. if not !sorry to waste your time

I feel ya. try this.

PCV valve- easy, cheap, i think lessened my oil loss($6 i think for OEM)

Research on bobistheoilguy.com - great site lot of smart ppl

new oxygen sensor - almost totally stopped the soot on the bumper. the CEL wont come on til the sensor is completely toast. Just get a cheap universal one (4 wire ) ($70)

HTH let us know

Try an oil change with a different oil. That actually worked for me.

Take out your spark plugs and inspect them for burnt oil residue....If you have thick oil residue then you might have bad Valve Seals.....If when you changed the Valves and didn't change the Seals then thats your problem....Also, when oil burns, you have a LEAK.........

IF your compression is good, and your leakdown numbers are good, I would look for visual leaks.

Cam plug, oil pan gasket, etc...
