I believe that straight argon is what most companies recommend.

I know nothing about welding, but actually inquired about getting one today to learn and I was told the exact opposit, you dont want straight argon... I cant remember what the mix was but it was co2/argon I beleive.. Now dont quote me because I'm only going on what I was told today.

Shelilding gas has to do a lot with what metal you are using, welding upon, and what metal you are using for filler. a 75/25 argon mix is what is generally used with mild steel, and I havent bought a spool or gas for SS (so i have no idea).

Happy sparks

I was thinking aluminum mig applications. Tri mix is correct although some people recommend argon with 2-4% CO2 for cleaner welds on thinner stainless.

I belive we have some of the cleanest if not the cleanest stinaless welds around escpecilly for thinner stainless like 20 ga. or .035 we use pure argon we also dont MIG we TIG
