Default grinding in 5th, hard into and out of reverse on m2b4

i bought my jdm lsd tranny about a month ago. it worked flawlessly for three weeks then on saturday night it just suddenly started grinding hard into 5th gear and it does want to go into or out of reverse without some good effort. i haven't even been hard on it since i bought it because i'm trying to save it for my turbo. does anyone know why it would just all of a sudden decide to **** me off? i have a spare m2a4 tranny with no reverse, should i take both tranny's in to fix the m2b4 with parts out of the m2a4, or sell the m2b4 and throw a real lsd in the m2a4 and fix the reverse lockout pin that came loose in it?
