Honda owners attitudes in S. Florida.
Hello everyone.
Well this is an odd post but anyway, here it goes.
I go to a car show just about every friday night in S. Florida called Tower Shoppes.
I have been going there since I was about 16 years old(before that I rode with my friend's dad).I used to drive an 88 Rx-7 non turbo at the time. I used to get compliments(even though it was kinda trashy and mainly american cars at that time and jap supercars and other exotics), people would let me park next to them, and show some sort of respect. Especially fellow rotary owners. I went off to school and all blah, so I was gone like 2 years. I get back I have a 88 turbo rx-7.People would stop and talk to me and ask questions. Now I got sick of 60 dollars in gas a week versus 15 dollars in gas a week. (no ac, no pwr steering, half interior missing, smelled like cat ****, etc=hooptie status rx7)The only up part is the car was fast, well quick I guess.. Never ran it... I went to run the car twice and it rained both times right before I got to Moroso. It was probably a mid 13 second car though. People would let me park the car just about anywhere I wanted.
NOW I HAVE A HONDA...Now I get no respect. (can't get no satisfaction)Fellow Honda owners tell me I can't park my car next to theirs. They say a friend is coming well, the friends car looks like something that a import joe dirt would drive with a pvc and duct(quack)intakeor no one parks there at all. Its like hey dude first come first serv. My car is no rocket but is respectable looking at least with mods that are future mod friendly.(will get a swap aventually)
I very rarely get any complements, not that I give a crapola but it just seems in general, Honda people aren't quite as friendly. Makes me want to rip the badges off my car sometimes. Anyway.. I am just venting my anger. I have done all the mods to my car to my specs. People tell me they don't like stuff occasionaly-so what. I ask how someone does something on a honda and you get a smart comment. I never got that with rotorheads. Anyway peace and be nice to your fellow Honda friends, maybe they will help you with something you don't know how to do sometime.

funny u mention this.
over on a local south florida board, someone brought this up as well.
one guy mentioned how he owns a bike and everyone on a bike always waves to say wassup. on the otherhand, while in a honda, he gets revved at and tried by retards in other hondas. i definitely know what you mean tho. im from miami, and ive visited tower shoppes before. last time i went, around 2 years ago, i actually spoke to several honda owners. i asked questions and they asked some back. it was fun, now... everyone disregards you for 'just another honda.' basically, you dont know which honda driver knows what hes doing. honda is like the lego of the car industry if you think about it. its the most basic i guess.
just dont worry about it man. be yourself, go talk to someone about their car and then when they realize that you actually know what the f*** ure talking about, they'll respect you rather than considering you another riceboy in a civic....
hope i made some sense.

That makes perfect sense bro. Its not just South FL either. Up here in North FL we have some meets here and there but it is always tense riding up...no friendly people, just a bunch of rivalry. No unity at all. I just think "Honda people" are like that because they think having a honda is cool and "IN".
But when it comes down to it...just do your own thing and find those certain people that have the same interests that you do...like Tuning, modding, and enjoying Hondas ...not just talking about them in an empty parking lot and being a ricer...
PS: autocross is where i usually find those certain people..mature, CAR people...not just honda people.

Couple pics of my car.. its a little different but not much.

me being a goof off

custom guage pod i built.

I like my mods, but sometimes when you get these "groupie's" in the car shows that just have no respect for what a car should be.

Damn, your car is off the hook. **** the gonads that are dicks to fellow car enthusiasts. BTW, if you ever want to donate your RPF1's, there is always a good home for them in Texas

to me, your car looks clean and on it's way. your wheels alone are enough to spark up a conversation with a person who loves Honda's and atcually has clue to what the **** their talking about. i say **** em' stay away from the show's...who wants to be parked up next to some riced out honda? go park away from the other trash and let your car stand out like so many of the cars on this board do.
if anything only go to H-T meets....always cool people there

no offense, but why would you buy a car just to get other peoples attention? its a known fact that people (outside of the ones who actually own one) think all honda drivers are ricers, and yes, quite a few of the people ive met around here who drive hondas are morons, but the few good friends i have who know wtf they are talking about are the coolest people i know. educated honda owners are much more friendly....and harder to find.

Heh i used to go to Towers, bunch of ricers. Theres maybe 2 Honda's there, couple GSR's. Problem is everyone in the import section has a body-kit and has their trunk opened showing their system. I have seen probably only 2-3 swapped Honda's over there. Nothing special though, a CRX with an LS and 2 EG's with b16's. The guys with the swaps were dicks too, try talking to them and they kinda brush you off.
BTW : You got a clean ride =]

Where are you guys at exactly? I'm movin back to florida soon and will be lookin for some fun stuff to do as far as cars and chillin and ****. I'll probably be in the pompano, deerfield area.
I just keep to myself, and let my car speak for me. I usually end up answering a few questions, observe the odd and sometimes dirty looks but brush them off. People will always hate no matter where you live or what you drive.... **** em' that's what I say....

nice choice, i havent seen anyone local with those.
i guess now owning a honda is so competitive that no one wants to really say what they have or tell where they got something etc etc.
but on the flip side too many shady characters in south fl. messing it up for the good guys. tell the wrong people, your cars gone.
looks good man.
if i ever bump into ya i'll say whats up.
on a side note... i would boost the sohc before i swap.
